5:50 PM PT - The Chiefs cut Kareem Hunt, saying he lied to the team when they spoke to him directly about the incident.

The team says that when the NFL and Cleveland Police opened an investigation, the team called Hunt and "several members of our management team spoke directly with him. Kareem was not honest in those discussions. The video released today confirms that fact."

A source connected to the NFL investigation says ... the league has made repeated attempts to obtain the video but has been rebuffed. We're told the league contacted the hotel and was told it's company policy to release surveillance video only to law enforcement.

We reached out to Metropolitan at The 9, and COO Tony Quintal says, "We understand this is an ongoing investigation and cannot share any additional information at this time."

We're told the NFL also contacted Cleveland police in an attempt to get the video, but was also denied. A source says the league's investigation included reaching out to the alleged victim, who was unresponsive.

5:26 PM PT - The NFL just announced that Hunt has been placed on the commissioner's waiver list and will NOT practice, play or attend games. The NFL added: "The NFL's investigation, which began immediately after the incident in February, will include a review of the new information released today."

Kareem Hunt Admits He 'lied' To Nfl's Chiefs About Hotel Assault

1:33 PM PT - According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, Hunt has reportedly been sent home from the Chiefs practice facility.

They report that Hunt will likely be placed on the commissioner's waiver list — meaning he likely won't play this Sunday when the Chiefs face the Raiders in Oakland.

Sports has obtained video of Kansas City Chiefs star running back Kareem Hunt punching, shoving and kicking a woman at a Cleveland hotel in February.

Kareem hasn't missed a game this season despite the incident happening MONTHS before the start of the 2018 NFL season ... and team executive Clark Hunt publicly stated in August that he doubts Hunt will be suspended.

Kareem Hunt Is Cut By The Chiefs After A Video Showed Him Attacking A Woman

In the video, Hunt is seen arguing with a 19-year-old woman outside his room at The Metropolitan at 9 at 3:22 a.m. on February 10, 2018.

Hunt turned the corner, stood in front of the woman and shoved her hard. His wife slaps him back in the face... and then Hunt goes berserk.

As his friends try to hold him back, the 2017 Pro Bowler, who led the league in rushing yards, explodes and slams one of his friends into a woman...and they both fly into a wall.

Both Kareem's boyfriend and wife look stunned - but Kareem gets to the woman and kicks her as she crouches on the ground... knocking her down.

Kareem Hunt Is Trying To Rewrite His Story, Backed By A Family That Knows Second Chances

Police were called to the scene, but no arrests were made. According to police reports obtained by Sports, video from the hotel's security camera was obtained by law enforcement. We're told the video is part of the evidence provided to prosecutors.

Still, officers did not arrest Hunt and no charges were filed because officers said they were unable to determine whether a crime had been committed.

At the time of the incident, the woman told police it all started when Karim kicked her out of his room after she refused to hook up with one of the men in Karim's entourage.

Kareem's friends told cops the woman got upset when she was asked to leave and called Kareem the n-word ... and then punched one of Kareem's girlfriends after things got physical.

Cleveland Police Fail To Id Leak In Kareem Hunt Assault Case

It's unclear why the NFL took no action against Hunt. We reached out to the league to see if they watched the video. We also reached out to the police to see if they were contacted by the NFL about the footage.

The whole incident is reminiscent of the Ray Rice scandal, when the NFL star knocked out his then fiancee in a hotel elevator in February 2014.

The NFL suspended him indefinitely — but only after Sports released brutal video of the knockout from inside an elevator ... video the NFL says it hadn't seen until our story.

After the incident, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell acknowledged a failure in the NFL's investigative process and said they would review their protocol.

The NFL has since said it is trying to get tougher on players accused of assaulting women — most famously, the league suspended Ezekiel Elliott for 6 games in 2017 following allegations that he got physical with an ex-girlfriend in 2016.
